PASSE-PARTOUT: tra il reale e l'immaginario

Questi pezzi vogliono descrivere al contempo sia quello che si osserva (foto) che quello che la mente pensa mentre si osserva (disegno su passe-partout). Il disegno assume una simbologia controllando l'interazione con la fotografia incorniciata dal passe-partout di modo da creare una nuova narrativa/lettura che possa spiegare il pensiero osservatore al momento dello scattato della fotografia.

These pieces want to describe both what is observed (photo) and what the mind thinks while observing (drawing on passe-partout). The drawing takes on a symbology by controlling the interaction with the photograph framed by the passe-partout in order to create a new narrative/reading to explain the observer's thoughts at the moment the photograph was taken.

NUTRIRE LA MENTE

Questa immagine ha lo scopo di far riflettere l'osservatore su quanto sia relativa la percezione del valore della vita. La fotografia ritrae dei pesci morti in una cesta di polistirolo al mercato del pesce di Catania, i pesci escono dalla realtà per incontrare il mondo immaginario nel disegno sul passe-partout dove riprendono vita e nuotano metaforicamente in uno spazio immaginario dove ci sono degli omini come esca.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

This picture has the aim of making the observer reflect on how relative the perception of the value of life is. The photograph depicts dead fishes in a polystyrene basket at the Catania fish market, the fishes come out of reality to meet the imaginary world in the drawing on the passe-partout where they come back to life and metaphorically swim in an imaginary space where there are little men as bait.

TI HO IN PUGNO

Questo lavoro vuole evidenziare il fatto che ci sono rapporti interpersonali dove una delle due parti ha maggiore influenza o forza nei confronti dell'altra. Questo pezzo potrebbe essere visto come una rappresentazione del famoso detto “ti ho in pugno”. La persona più forte nella relazione ha quindi il potere di schiacciare o elevare l'altro grazie al suo ruolo chiave nella relazione.

I OWN YOU

This work wants to bring evidence to the fact that there are interpersonal relationships where one of the two parts has greater influence or strength towards the other. This could be seen as a representation of the famous saying “I own you”. The stronger person in the relationship has therefore the power to squeeze or elevate the other thank to his or her unique role in the relationship.

NASCONDENDOSI TRA LE NUVOLE

Questo quadro rappresenta il conforto che si trova nel rifugiarsi in qualcosa di intangibile come i sogni o la speranza quando ci si trova davanti ad una tangibile situazione problematica.

This painting represents the desire to take refuge in the imagination when you cannot find an escape route (represented by the 2 people hiding on a cloud) to the problems that life present us (represented by the military plane in the photography).

RISOLUZIONE DEI PROBLEMI

Questo dipinto usa i nodi come metafora per rappresentare il concetto di 'problema'. Le piccole persone raffigurate cercano di risolvere il nodo/problema passivamente o attivamente tirando le corde a loro disposizione con più o meno forza, tuttavia il problema/nodo non si risolverà mai se ognuno di loro tira in direzioni diverse senza chiedere aiuto agli altri ignorando l'occasione che si trova nel lavoro di squadra.

PROBLEM SOLVING

This painting uses knots as a metaphor to represent the concept of 'problem'. The little people depicted try to solve the knot / problem passively or actively by pulling the ropes at their disposal more or less strength, however the problem / knot will never be solved if each of them pulls in different directions without asking for help ignoring the opportunity that can be found in teamwork.

L' ALBERO DELLA VITA

Quest'opera rappresenta nella fotografia un albero morto il quale si riempie di fiori e foglie nel mondo immaginario del passe-partout. Il dipinto vuole esprimere la necessità che abbiamo di essere vicini ad una natura forte e sana per vivere meglio.

GUARD RAIL

Questo lavoro vuole rappresentare il percorso di un migrante che viaggia da una realtà disagiata (fotografia in baraccopoli in Sud Africa) a una dove ci possono essere opportunità (attingendo al passe-partout di una città sviluppata). Al confine tra questi due mondi c'è un muro e una persona che lo sta costruendo o smontando (a seconda di come si vuole interpretare il quadro).

This work aims to represent the path of a migrant who travels from a disadvantaged reality (photography in shanty town in South Africa) to one where there may be opportunities (drawing on the passe-partout of a developed city). At the border between these two worlds there is a wall and a person who is building or disassembling it (depending on how you want to interpretate the painting).

STIAMO PENSANDO O STIAMO AFFONDANDO?

Questa foto è stata scattata al confine con il Circolo Polare Artico, Il passe-partout ritrae un futuro distopico in cui le persone stanno annegando a causa del riscaldamento globale e del conseguente scioglimento dei ghiacci. L'intento di questo lavoro è ricordare all'osservatore che mentre pensiamo a una soluzione il tempo passa e il livello del mare si alza.

ARE WE THINKING OR SINKING?

This picture was taken at the border with the Arctic Circle, The passe-partout portrays a dystopian future where people are drowning due to global warming and the consequent melting of the ice. The intent of this work is to remind the observer that while we are thinking about a solution time is passing and the sea level is rising.
